We’re kicking things off with a bang in Christchurch. A Rolling Stone are putting on a full evening of entertainment with bands, Irish dancing, a full Irish session. Da Banjaxed are a one half Irish, one half Country and one half Kiwi band that have been around in various incarnations way back to the days when MacGowan had all his teeth, Earle had all his hair and Dobbyn had some lovely jumpers.

The O’Neill School of Irish Dance, run by Sean and Cathy O’Neill, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Sean O’Neill was the first New Zealander to place at the Irish Dancing World Championships and brought that passion for the sport back to New Zealand after spending time training and living in Ireland. The school has had many hundreds of Christchurch dancers through its doors.
