We’re a little bit of Ireland in heart of the Hutt Valleys! The Hutt Valley Irish Society will be hosting a mini Feis on Sunday the 18th November, where children from the greater Irish community will perform and sing for an enthusiastic audience. 12 Raroa Rd, Lower Hutt 5010

FEIS: The old Irish word feis (meaning ‘a recurring feast or festival’; plural feiseanna)

A local Festival of poetry, oratory, humour, drama, storytelling, singing and music as well as dancing displays (not competition).

Come to the Hutt Valley Irish Society for a full day of entertainment!

The Feis is a ‘local’ Feis as opposed to the National Feis which concentrates more on the Irish dancing competitions.

The music, singing and drama have taken a back seat at the Feis in recent years because of the enormous popularity of Irish dancing worldwide.

The aim is to promote a healthy interest in all aspects of Irish music, storytelling, poetry and drama which were the only forms of entertainment in Ireland over the centuries.
